63rd anniversary of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski moving to the Black Hills in 1947 to accept the invitation from Lakota leaders to carve Crazy Horse Memorial.

62nd anniversary of 1948 dedication of the Memorial and first mountain blast. Also 12th anniversary of the dedication of finishing the face of Crazy Horse.

Crazy Horse Volksmarch

June 5th - 6th
25th annual organized hike up the world’s largest mountain carving in progress. Free Admission* to hikers; $3 per person charge by AVA for 10K (6.2-mile) round trip hike.

Crazy Horse Stampede Rodeo and Gift from Mother Earth Celebration

June 18th - 20th
20th annual Great Plains Indian Rodeo Association & PRCA rodeo events; American Indian & Western arts & crafts show-sale.

Night Blast

June 26th
Ruth Ziolkowski's 84th Birthday 134th Anniversary Of The Battle Of Little Big Horn
There will be an evening program honoring "Mrs. Z" as well as special additional effects in the Legends in Light show commemorating the Battle of the Little Big Horn. This is the first of two yearly night blasts on the mountain.

Free weekly Summer Performance & Lecture Series. Programs start at 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays from June through August.

Observance of dual anniversaries; 1877 death of Lakota leader Crazy Horse and the commemoration of the 102nd birth date of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski born in 1908. Second annual night blast.

Korczak Ziolkowski Remembrance Day (1908-1982)
Only on this day may you walk to sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski's tomb to pay your respects.

Admission to the Memorial on weekends and holidays from October 12th thru June 20th is 3 cans of food per person for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive.
From a rodeo to a Volksmarch, there are a variety of special events and activities throughout the year at Crazy Horse Memorial. In addition to providing entertainment, many of our events also serve to educate our visitors on the Indian culture and heritage of both yesterday and today.     Memorial Day Weekend thru Native American Day

    Crazy Horse Memorial is dedicated to honoring North American Indians and to telling their "epic" story - day and night.

  • Volksmarch

    June 5th - 6th

    The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the most popular organized hike in the United States. It is a 10K (6.2-mile) hike to the arm of the world's largest mountain carving in progress

  • Gifts from Mother Earth

    June 18th - 20th

    The Gift from Mother Earth Celebration includes a Native American and Western art show and sale and a Native American Fashion Show and Sale. Over 30 artists participate.

  • Stampede Rodeo

    June 18th - 20th

    The 19th annual Crazy Horse Stampede Rodeo is one of the few rodeos with both a Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association (PRCA) events and Great Plains Indian Rodeo Association (GPIRA) events.

  • Night Blasts

    June 26th & Sept 6th

    Crazy Horse Memorial are the two night blasts traditionally held each year. The spectacular ceremonial blasts light up the mountain with incredible fireballs and specially designed pyrotechnical features.

  • Native American Day

    Oct. 11th

    The Native American Day celebration at Crazy Horse each year includes an educational program for the public, Native American singers, dancers, artists and storytellers, hands-on activities for children, a blast on the mountain carving (weather permitting) and a free buffalo stew lunch for all visitors.
